I am a consultant educational technologist/designer working in learning community, community of practice, gamification, and open badges design, development and research. I have consulted to educational organisations and institutions on the design of products like Arizona State University's Quest Atlantis/ Atlantis Remixed program and Australia's PLANE Project, and was part of the fab Massively Minecraft team.I have been a classroom teacher and have firm belief that as educators we have a clear mandate to be creative and imaginative in our teaching. If we believe ourselves to be professional then we should trust in our judgements to be able to test new learning environments to excite and motivate our students and to engender a love of learning. We can no longer ignore the role games, and indeed play itself, play in quality learning contexts.
